About the Role: What You Will Master
As a Trainee Field Service Engineer, you will be the friendly face of Hotpoint, travelling across the Greater Bristol area to provide expert diagnosis and repair services directly in customers’ homes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Driving your Hotpoint van safely to pre-booked customer appointments.
- Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing a variety of major domestic appliances, including washing machines, tumble dryers, cookers, and dishwashers.
- Providing exceptional customer service and clearly explaining faults and repairs.
- Effectively managing your time, tools, spare parts stock, and daily work schedule.
- Promoting trusted Hotpoint products and services when appropriate.
Your Training Journey: Becoming a Qualified Engineer
We are committed to making you an expert. Our structured programme blends classroom theory with extensive on-the-job mentorship:
- Welcome Induction (2 days): Team meet-and-greet, safety briefing, and equipment collection.
- Shadowing: Spend time on the road with an experienced engineer to observe the job in action.
- Phase 1 Technical Training (2 weeks): Intensive, hands-on training at our specialist centre in Peterborough.
- On-the-Job Learning (6 – 9 months): Applying and building your skills with real customers.
- Phase 2 Advanced Training (1 week): Focused training to level up your knowledge on an additional appliance group
What We Need From You
We’re looking for drive and aptitude, not just qualifications.
Essential Requirements:
- Driving Licence: Must hold a full UK Manual Driving Licence (essential for the company van).
- Aptitude: A keen interest in electrics, mechanics, fault-finding, and hands-on problem-solving.
- Customer Focus: A passion for delivering excellent customer service and maintaining a professional image.
- Fitness: Physically fit and able to move and lift household appliances safely.
- Eligibility: Legally eligible to work in the UK and committed to a long-term career.
