Overview:
We’re looking for an experienced Content Designer with a strong background in government or public sector digital services, AI-driven products, and mobile applications. You’ll be joining a multidisciplinary team focused on enhancing a new AI-powered chat feature within a government mobile app, currently moving from private beta into public release.
This is a high-impact role shaping how users understand and engage with an emerging AI product through clear, user-centred content. If you’ve previously worked on government platforms and mobile apps-particularly involving AI or conversational interfaces-you’ll be well-placed to hit the ground running.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Lead the creation, iteration, and management of user-focused content across the end-to-end journey of an AI-powered in-app chat feature
-
Use analytics, user research, and feedback to continuously improve content effectiveness and clarity
-
Shape the onboarding experience and in-app guidance to help users understand the product’s value and how it works
-
Work closely with product, design, research, and engineering to embed content into a seamless user experience
-
Translate complex AI functionality into accessible and intuitive messaging for diverse audiences
-
Contribute to the development of content patterns, tone of voice, and documentation
-
Collaborate with stakeholders across disciplines while championing user needs and content quality
-
Develop content plans and user stories aligned with real user needs and product goals
Must-Have Experience:
-
Proven experience designing content for government or public sector services
-
Background working on mobile applications, especially those involving AI or chat functionality
-
Strong knowledge of agile delivery practices and working in fast-paced, cross-functional teams
-
Ability to simplify complex topics-especially technical or AI-related-into clear and helpful content
-
Hands-on experience using evidence (analytics, research, user feedback) to inform and iterate content
-
Comfortable writing content both independently and as part of an embedded product team
Desirable:
-
A portfolio or website showcasing your work on similar products (optional but encouraged – link can be included in additional comments)
-
Familiarity with content management systems and digital publishing tools
-
Experience contributing to content strategy, documentation, and standards
